What happens when you call
- You describe the door, the lock type and how you became locked out.
- We tell you whether it is a job we can do, the callout fee and the likely work cost.
- We confirm a realistic arrival window based on where we actually are.
- On arrival we check photo ID and evidence you are entitled to enter.
- We attempt non-destructive entry first and explain any point where that stops being possible.
Non-destructive entry is a goal, not a guarantee
Most standard residential deadlatches and many deadbolts can be opened without damage using picking, bypass or key decoding techniques. High-security, restricted and heavily worn cylinders sometimes cannot.
If we reach the point where the only way in is to drill the cylinder, we stop, explain why, quote the replacement cylinder and get your agreement in writing or by text before continuing.
Situations we will not attend
- Anyone who cannot show identification and a connection to the address.
- Disputes between tenants, partners or business partners where entitlement is contested.
- Doors that are subject to a police, court or tribunal order.
- Vehicle entry where ownership cannot be evidenced by registration papers or equivalent.
What it depends on
Cost varies with the lock, the door, the time of day and whether parts are needed. That is why we quote per job rather than publishing a headline price that changes on the doorstep.
Questions we are asked
- Do you charge a callout fee?
- Yes, and we tell you the amount on the phone before you agree to anything. It is listed as a separate line on your invoice.
- Will you damage my door?
- We work non-destructively wherever the lock allows. If drilling becomes the only option, we stop and re-quote before proceeding.
- What ID do I need?
- Photo ID plus something linking you to the address, such as a lease, utility bill, rates notice or a landlord or agent who can confirm by phone.
